This beginner’s guide is a hands-on overview of the elements of DIY filmmaking, from the initial planning stages through capturing video footage and editing it all together.
Artist Bio: Vanessa Crosbie Ramsay is a filmmaker, and multidisciplinary artist. Her short films have screened in Canada and internationally. Vanessa’s art centres on women’s identity and experience, highlighting issues related to feminism, social equality, and intersectionality. Her practice includes film/video, storytelling, site-specific installation, and community engagement. Vanessa is a member of HAVN, co-founder of the DAV(e) Collective, and the recipient of the City of Hamilton Arts Award in Media Arts (2018).
IMPORTANT: Fees must be paid in full upon registration. Centre reserves the right to cancel courses 3 business days before the start date. Courses cancelled by Centre will be refunded in full. Participants who withdraw 10 or more business days prior to first class will be issued a credit for the full amount of their registration. We are unable to provide refund/credit for withdrawal fewer than 10 business days prior to first class. No make-up classes/substitutions provided.
Many of our workshops and courses make use of upper & lower levels of the facility and may involve small amounts of physical labour depending on the processes involved.
