Painterly Monotype

Saturday, March 7th

12 – 5 PM

Instructor: Ron Siu

Monotype is a painterly printing process where the artist hand paints their plate to produce unique and spontaneous one-off prints. In this workshop participants will be introduced to basic methods and different applications they can use to approach making these experimental prints. This workshop is an easy introduction to printmaking for people interested in print (especially anybody with any experience in painting) but intimidated by the long technical steps often involved in traditional printing processes. All materials provided.

Ron Siu is an artist and recent graduate from OCAD University. Working in painting, printmaking and mixed-media approaches, Siu’s work has been in exhibitions across Canada and in Glasgow, Scotland. Most recently, he was one of the selected artists to participate in Centre3’s Emerging Artist Resident
