It is difficult to define what it is about an island that fascinates me. The interactions between the land and the water are complicated and dynamic. For me the expression of island reality includes a heightened sense of place, individualism and otherness. Somehow the ordinary can be transformed into the extraordinary or even the magical. Hopefully I have been able to convey a bit of that transformation with these images.
These photographs were created, for the most part, on Grand Manan Island, New Brunswick.
