January 4 - February 1 , 2020

Opening Reception: January 10, 7:00pm - 10:00pm

For over two centuries, Latin America has been occupied by United States fruit companies. They continue to profit from the exploitation of resources, economies, and peoples.

By means of displacement, mass murder, and the destruction of sacred land and artifacts, these operations have reshaped the identity of Latin America.

Frutas Y Fruit is the retelling of this history from the perspective of one of the displaced.

Joshua Las is an artist of mixed nationality. His Guatemalan and Canadian heritage play a crucial role in his practice. Using Meso-american symbolism, he re-appropriates the lens of the ethnographer as a means of reclamation, while at the same time demanding the sovereignty of Latin America.

Accessibility

We are partially physically accessible. We have a level entrance leading to our shop, information desk, galleries, washroom and traditional print studio. Unfortunately, we do not have automatic doors or an elevator. We are working toward becoming a physically accessible space in the future.
