Nature Interrupted

Amanda McKinney

August 4 - August 29, 2015
Opening Reception: Friday, August 14

A continuous theme throughout Amanda McKinney’s work is a concern for the steady disappearance of nature in our local environment and how that will effect the population long term. Growing up in the Niagara wine region of Southern Ontario, Amanda gained inspiration from an agricultural based community. The materials that are chosen are a reaction to time and the environment in which we live. Photographs honour and preserve nature in her peaceful moments, however when the transferring process takes place the image becomes fragmented. Often little bits of the image tare away. This seemingly unstoppable act is symbolic of the erosion of green space in urban environments.
