We Could Go Anywhere, Anywhere But Here

Stephanie Vegh

May 2 - May 30, 2015
Opening Reception: Friday, May 8

The disappearance of honeybees from our contemporary ecosystem poses a quiet threat to human sustainability on earth and has been a preoccupation of Stephanie Vegh’s studio practice for the past four years.  Centre[3]’s Members’ Gallery offers an ideal setting for this experiment as a white cube of modest scale that will allow the hive to disperse from a concentrated cluster in one of the gallery’s corners. Stephanie is interested in exploring the contrasting effects of the installation as experienced inside the gallery versus its viewing experience on the street whereby the gallery takes on the appearance of a vitrine preserving this threatened species as a zoological display.
