COOL ANIMAL: THE ARTWORK OF LISA

COOL ANIMAL: THE ARTWORK OF LISA is a series of twenty 15”x15” monotype prints that Eric Euler created to illustrate the album “Lisa” by the psychedelic instrumental rock band, Cool Animal, a band in which the artist plays synthesizers. This exhibit highlights seven prints from this series while also bringing in a wall installation of vinyl cutouts to enhance the series’ themes. Dystopian gradations of synthetic colour create the empty and otherworldly spaces where confused, anxious, and hybridized animalistic forms dance freely in uncertainty amongst tube amps and open minds.

There is a sense of dread and isolation in some of these images, however optimism is found in the empowered characters wielding their instruments in the church of amplification, surrounded by the friendship, excitement, bewilderment, and fulfillment that this activity brings.
