Book Binding and Poster Making Competitions!

Week five of NuSteel has students finishing up projects and starting new ones!

Towards the beginning of week five, guest artist Sara Froese from All Sorts Press stopped in to teach the students a simple Japanese binding style to sew books together! The students took their human body systems screen prints on mylar from week four and bound them to create an informative visual booklet!

Towards the end of week five, a second guest artist Becky Katz came in for a two day workshop and had students each design and create 2 posters – one for a community arts project called Proof Positive and another for a concert put on by Strangewaves. Becky had the students compete for first place to win a gift card for art supplies at Mixed Media! Ciera (left) and Eli (middle) won for the Ricky Eat Acid and Kitty concert poster and Emily (right) won for the Marker Starling community arts poster!

NuSteel will be at 126 James Street North (Art Forms) for Art Crawl, October 14 from 7-10pm! Students will be selling their new and older works in the gallery space! Stop in and support NuSteel!!
