Food for thought…and grocery totes!
Written By: Michelle Gibson
The semester’s fifth project was all about food: where it comes from, how it’s produced, its effects on human societies and environments, and the evolution of the systems used to grow and market it. Students explored issues related to the global and local food systems, including pesticide use, deforestation, “Free Trade,” and childhood obesity. The culminating design assignment was to create a reusable grocery tote that represented both a problem and a solution related to one of these issues – a process which engendered a whole lot of debate, food for thought, and revolutionary spirit!
P.S. See a tote you like? Come by Centre3 this Friday night for Art Crawl and pick one up!
