NuSteel Gets Self-ishly Creative!
Written By: Centre
Week four of NuSteel is all about the self! This new unit has students choose any artist of their choice from classical to contemporary and everything in between and create individual self portraits in the style of the artist they choose! The type of medium is left open and so far is ranging from digital drawing, india ink, pastels, paints and more. From there students will turn their mixed media self portrait into a 2 colour screen print as their end result! Students are also creating personal autobiographies to go along with this project. See below for some examples of the works in progress as well as their messy workspaces!
To take this project to the next level and to coincide with Halloween approaching students will create a second self portrait as a MONSTER and screen print using glow in the dark ink to create horrifying trick or treat tote bags!! These along with new and older works will be for sale at Art Crawl October 14th from 7-10pm! NuSteel students will be in a new location this Art Crawl…you can find them at 126 James Street North in the Art Forms building! Come see for yourself and support the students by purchasing their artwork!
