Here's what the class is all about...

In this two-day workshop we’ll make a number of simple book structures and create unique books suitable for artistic expression. Binding methods will be shown and we’ll produce a few books in the western and Asian traditions. An additional $25 materials fee will be charged to be paid to the instructor.

William Rueter is a Dundas private printer, hand binder, and printmaker. He studied in London, England and at the Ontario College of Art and Design. He has worked as a graphic designer in publishing, and from 1969 to 1998 he designed books at the University of Toronto Press. He established his private press, The Aliquando Press. in 1963 to learn bookmaking skills and for the pleasure of creating books by hand. Work of the Press has won numerous awards and is in public and private collections throughout North America and in Britain, Europe, Japan, New Zealand and Korea. He has taught design and bookmaking in Canada, Barbados, and the Philippines. As a printmaker he has exhibited in Dundas, Hamilton, and Toronto. He is a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Art and other art and printing-related associations. In 2013 he was honoured with the Robert R Reid Award by the Alcuin Society for lifetime achievement in the book arts.

IMPORTANT: Fees must be paid in full upon registration. Centre[3] reserves the right to cancel courses 3 business days before the start date. Courses cancelled by Centre[3] will be refunded in full. Participants who withdraw 10 or more business days prior to first class will be issued a credit for the full amount of their registration. We are unable to provide refund/credit for withdrawal fewer than 10 business days prior to first class. No make-up classes/substitutions provided.
