Here's what the class is all about...
This printmaking course is designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of additive and reductive copperplate intaglio/ etching techniques. Class sessions include technical demonstrations using various combinations of etching, dry point and aquatint. Students in the course will learn to control all of these elegant printmaking techniques and lay the foundation for complex image making.
Laine Groeneweg is an artist and printmaker living in Hamilton, Canada. He trained at Fondazione Il Bisonte Per Lo Studio Dell’Arte Grafica in Florence, Italy with a focus on intaglio printmaking. Since then, Laine has been widely recognized for his mezzotint and drypoint works. His prints explore the possibilities of a traditional technique in the wake of more contemporary production methods. Laine’s work has been exhibited Nationally and Internationally and is held in a number of private and public collections.
IMPORTANT: Fees must be paid in full upon registration. Centre reserves the right to cancel courses 3 business days before the start date. Courses cancelled by Centre will be refunded in full. Participants who withdraw 10 or more business days prior to first class will be issued a credit for the full amount of their registration. We are unable to provide refund/credit for withdrawal fewer than 10 business days prior to first class. No make-up classes/substitutions provided.
Many of our workshops and courses make use of upper & lower levels of the facility and may involve small amounts of physical labour depending on the processes involved.
