Here's what the class is all about...

In this two day workshop, participants will be introduced to basic techniques in Japanese waterbased woodblock printmaking also called MOKUHANGA. Students will transfer their image to the woodblock, and learn the basics of carving the blocks toward completion of a colour woodcut image. Then students will print from their blocks on Japanese papers, using good quality Gouache pigments and Japanese sumi ink(black), as applied with authentic suri bake brushes and printed using a baren. The transparent quality of the pigments on luminescent Japanese papers produce a quality unique to this medium.

**An Additional $30 material fee will be applied to the cost of this workshop**
