About the Exhibition

“This exhibit is a presentation of some of my new work. It is art that I created this summer in response to a workshop (Painting on Washi) and the opportunities that I had to explore cyanotype printing on various materials. These were done with the intention of removing formal presentation from the equation to evoke a spirit of freedom.

When I am creating, it sometimes feels as though I’m Daydreaming in an Awakened State. It is a feeling similar to a hypnagogic state of mind, a blend of internal and external worlds, allowing the creativity to flow freely between them.

Using mark making, textures and various objects it was important for me to remain aware of the surfaces and their tactile quality. Sometimes I tore the material or I used material that would normally be discarded. These processes share the spirit of movement and play that we often anticipate in the summer months.”
