Introduction to Engraving

This short workshop will introduce students to traditional copperplate engraving. Participants will be guided through the various tools and techniques of the process, from preparing your plate to printing your image. No prior intaglio experience necessary!

About the Artist

Mark Laurin is an artist and printmaker originally from Montreal. He holds a BFA in Print Media from Concordia University and an MFA from Indiana University. His work focuses on line as a tool with which we prescribe meaning to our world.

IMPORTANT

Fees must be paid in full upon registration. Centre[3] reserves the right to cancel courses 2 business days before the start date. Courses cancelled by Centre[3] will be refunded in full. Participants who withdraw 10 or more business days prior to first class will be issued a credit for the full amount of their registration. We are unable to provide refund/credit for withdrawal fewer than 10 business days prior to first class. No make-up classes/substitutions provided.

Accessibility

Centre[3] is partially physically accessible. We have a level entrance leading to our shop, information desk, galleries, washroom and traditional print studio. Unfortunately, we do not have automatic doors or an elevator. Our silkscreen studios and digital lab are only accessible by stairs. We are working toward becoming a physically accessible space in the future.
