Paper Screen Studio, 2019

Dear Centre[3] community,

We would like to acknowledge the patience of all who have been affected by the closure of our studios, galleries and community projects over these past few months. We’ve been missing all of you artists and makers, hustling and bustling in our studio facilities; and the regular visits we’d get to our galleries and shop.

After careful consideration and reflection, we have decided to open our studios to members beginning Wednesday, August 5th. In order to create the safest environment possible for both our community and staff, we had to implement a number of changes to the operation of our facilities. These changes are made to ensure a safe workspace for our membership, as we all move forward in this situation together.

Here are the changes:

  • Our studios will be open Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays only. We will not be offering After Dark studio time for the indefinite future.

  • Studio use will be by appointment only. Please note that a maximum number of hours per member will be taken into consideration each week in order to maintain fair use of space.

  • Appointments can be scheduled by e-mailing info@centre3.com or by calling (905) 524-5084. We are working on developing an online system to make this easier for folks.

  • Appointment booking will open August 4th. You can book appointments for 3 hour time slots:

        • our morning time slots will be from 10 AM to 1 PM

        • afternoon time slots will be from 2 PM to 5 PM

  • We have to limit the number of members allowed in each studio area in order to maintain social distancing:

        • Traditional studio: capacity is limited to 3 persons

        • Screen studio: capacity is limited to 2 persons in the textile area; and 2 persons in the paper area.

        • Digital Studio: capacity is limited to one person

  • No walk ins allowed. This includes the use of all access keys without a previous appointment made.

  • Masks must be worn at all times while in the building. Visitors must sanitize their hands upon entry.

  • All members using the space will be obligated to follow safety protocols including regular hand washing. Members are also encouraged to sanitize equipment after use.

  • Social distancing will be enforced.

  • It seems to go without saying, but we’ll say it here anyways: if you are feeling unwell or exhibiting any symptoms, please stay home.

  • Absolutely no eating or food sharing allowed in the studios.

  • We ask those using the space to limit personal items not intended to aid in the printing process. Personal items must be disinfected or left in a secure space at the front of the building

  • We will no longer be able to lend out respirators for studio use. Members are responsible for providing their own. Use of the etching room and screen washout room without a respirator, will be done so under your own risk. It is highly advised that you come prepared with your own respirator.

  • Washrooms will be fully disinfected after use.

  • Our gallery spaces, and shop will remain closed. Centre [3] will continue to adapt to provide exhibition experiences in an online capacity until we are able to safely move to open our physical galleries.

  • NO CASH payments. Interac and VISA and e-transfers only

  • We reserve the right to revoke access to members who do not abide by these new measures.

Thank you for taking the time to read our new protocols for entering our space. We are extremely sympathetic to how these changes will impact our members experiences and are grateful for the patience you’ve shown us as we attempt to navigate this new reality together. Please understand that we are implementing these measures first and foremost with the safety of our community in mind.

We as an organization are continually learning and adapting given the circumstances, and we are open and eager to hear feedback related to the needs of our membership relating to safety. Our re-opening has been aligned to the phases of the provincial and municipal governments and we continue to look to Public Health for guidance.

In person courses and workshops are on hold until further notice, but we are creating online courses that will be on offer for the fall. Stay tuned for updates.

We will continue to offer digital printing and custom screen-printing services. Although walk ins are not available, orders can be placed via phone or email, files can be submitted digitally, and processed orders will be made available for safe and contactless pick up or delivery.

For digital printing services, you can forward your inquiries to digital@centre3.com.

If you’re looking to get t-shirts printed, or any other custom screen-printed needs, you can forward your inquiries to print@centre3.com.

If you have any questions regarding the re-opening or if you have any print projects you need assistance with, please do not hesitate to call at 905-524-5084  or email our Director of Operations, Julie Shea at operations@centre3.com  and we will do our best to work with you to find a solution.

Thank you and be well,
